Screenwise Trends Panel is a rewards panel from Google that has been around for a few years now. As a Screenwise Trends Panelist you will install a piece of software on your internet browser and/or smartphone or tablet. Google then tracks what you are doing online, where you are going and how you are interacting with their ads and technology. In exchange for allowing Google to peek over your shoulder, you receive compensation. It’s easy passive income and fits perfectly into our Christmas Cash series.
What are the requirements?

- be 13 years old or over
- own your own computer
- have Internet access
- own a qualifying smartphone
- be able to install software (such as a browser extension) on your main computer
- be able to install an app on your smartphone

How much will I earn?
Screenwise Trends Panel is so much easier than most rewards programs, and the pay isn’t too shabby either! You will receive a reward of up to $8 just for registering. You will receive up to $2 per week for every qualified device on which you installed the software for as long as you keep it there. Even if you just install it on your home PC and one smartphone that’s $84 in free gift cards your first year!

What is Screenwise Trends tracking? And why?
Privacy is always a concern with browser extensions. Here is what the site says about its intent:
- What different technologies do people own and what do they use them for?
- How does the arrival of new technology affect media use?
- Do people notice advertising, and how relevant or irrelevant do they find it?
- How popular are different media activities among different types of people?
Little surveys will also pop up from time to time and allow you to express your opinions on everything from politics to travel.
So, my thoughts on privacy and allowing someone to track your device usage… I think if you spend any measurable amount of time online you should know by now that someone somewhere is tracking what you do. Always. Look at the bottom of your next Google search and you will see Google knows right where you are located. Visit an online merchant and you will see targeted ads for that merchant for days to come. If you don’t want Big Brother to know what you are doing online, throw out your devices and search anonymously at your local library – if they even still allow that.
I see quite a few bloggers that have been with this program for over two years now. The only complaints I see are that payment can sometimes be a little slow – don’t expect that gift card immediately. However, it seems to be an easy way to rack up points that can be converted into free gift cards for holiday shopping or giving as gifts.
